Section 2.14 : Absolute Value Equations

For problems 1 – 5 solve each of the equation.

  1. \(\left| {4p - 7} \right| = 3\) Solution
  2. \(\left| {2 - 4x} \right| = 1\) Solution
  3. \(6u = \left| {1 + 3u} \right|\) Solution
  4. \(\left| {2x - 3} \right| = 4 - x\) Solution
  5. \( \displaystyle \left| {\frac{1}{2}z + 4} \right| = \left| {4z - 6} \right|\) Solution

For problems 6 & 7 find all the real valued solutions to the equation.

  1. \(\left| {{x^2} + 2x} \right| = 15\) Solution
  2. \(\left| {{x^2} + 4} \right| = 1\) Solution
