Section 1.10 : Common Graphs

1. Without using a graphing calculator sketch the graph of \(\displaystyle y = \frac{4}{3}x - 2\).

Show Solution

This is just a line with slope \(\frac{4}{3}\) and \(y\)-intercept \(\left( {0, - 2} \right)\) so here is the graph.

The graph of the line \(y = \frac{4}{3}x - 2\) for \(-2 \le x \le 4\). The line rises from left to right, crossing the \(y\)-axis at (0,-2) and the \(x\)-axis at (1.5,0).
