### Section 1-4 : Polynomials

For problems 1 – 10 perform the indicated operation and identify the degree of the result.

1. Add $$4{x^3} - 2{x^2} + 1$$ to $$7{x^2} + 12x$$ Solution
2. Subtract $$4{z^6} - 3{z^2} + 2z$$ from $$- 10{z^6} + 7{z^2} - 8$$ Solution
3. Subtract $$- 3{x^2} + 7x + 8$$ from $${x^4} + 7{x^3} - 12x - 1$$ Solution
4. $$12y\left( {3{y^4} - 7{y^2} + 1} \right)$$ Solution
5. $$\left( {3x + 1} \right)\left( {2 - 9{x^2}} \right)$$ Solution

10. Subtract $$3{\left( {{x^2} + 1} \right)^2}$$ from $$6{x^3} - 9{x^2} - 13x - 4$$ Solution
