### Section 5-1 : Dividing Polynomials

For problems 1 – 3 use long division to perform the indicated division.

1. Divide $$3{x^4} - 5{x^2} + 3$$ by $$x + 2$$ Solution
2. Divide $${x^3} + 2{x^2} - 3x + 4$$ by $$x - 7$$ Solution
3. Divide $$2{x^5} + {x^4} - 6x + 9$$ by $${x^2} - 3x + 1$$ Solution

For problems 4 – 6 use synthetic division to perform the indicated division.

1. Divide $${x^3} + {x^2} + x + 1$$ by $$x + 9$$ Solution
2. Divide $$7{x^3} - 1$$ by $$x + 2$$ Solution
3. Divide $$5{x^4} + {x^2} - 8x + 2$$ by $$x - 4$$ Solution
