You appear to be on a device with a "narrow" screen width (i.e. you are probably on a mobile phone). Due to the nature of the mathematics on this site it is best views in landscape mode. If your device is not in landscape mode many of the equations will run off the side of your device (should be able to scroll to see them) and some of the menu items will be cut off due to the narrow screen width.

Section 6-1 : The 3-D Coordinate System

1. Give the projection of $$P = \left( {3, - 4,6} \right)$$ onto the three coordinate planes. Solution
2. Which of the points $$P = \left( {4, - 2,6} \right)$$ and $$Q = \left( { - 6, - 3,2} \right)$$ is closest to the $$yz$$-plane? Solution
3. Which of the points $$P = \left( { - 1,4, - 7} \right)$$ and $$Q = \left( {6, - 1,5} \right)$$ is closest to the $$z$$-axis? Solution

For problems 4 & 5 list all of the coordinates systems ($$\mathbb{R}$$, $${\mathbb{R}^2}$$, $${\mathbb{R}^3}$$) that the given equation will have a graph in. Do not sketch the graph.

1. $$7{x^2} - 9{y^3} = 3x + 1$$ Solution
2. $${x^3} + \sqrt {{y^2} + 1} - 6z = 2$$ Solution
